Chapter 12: Program Activities
ARTICLE 12-1. AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY:
To facilitate the achievement of the purposes of the National Organization, its program activities shall be divided into four of Opportunity with the following terms of reference:
- Individual Opportunities: To provide the opportunity for the Individual Member to realize personal potential through training programs.
- Community Opportunities: To develop the sensitivity of the Individual Member to societal problems and knowledge of community dynamics in solving these problems through actual experience.
- International Opportunities: To provide the opportunity for the Individual Member to contribute to the development of goodwill, understanding, and cooperation among all peoples.
- Business Opportunities: To provide the opportunity for the Individual Member to contribute to the development of the economic infrastructure, prosperity and well-being of all nations.
BYLAW 12-2. PROGRAM OFFICER:
The National Organization shall encourage each Chapter to designate an officer to be responsible for each Area of Opportunity for the purpose of communicating with the National Organization Director or officers responsible for program activities and bringing information received to the attention of the Chapter.
BYLAW 12-3. COMMISSIONS:
It is recommended to Chapters that in order to organize their activities in a balanced and orderly manner, their activities be conducted by the following Commissions established under the Areas of Opportunity:
- Individual Opportunities:
- Personal Development Commission
- Trainers Commission
- Officers Training Commission
- Membership Growth & Extension Commission
- Meetings Commission
- Community Opportunities:
- JCI Major Emphasis Theme Commission
- Community Development/Involvement Commission
- Economic Affairs Commission
- Children and Youth Commission
- Government and Civil Affairs Commission
- International Opportunities:
- International Affairs and Relations Commission
- Chapter Twinning Commission
- JCI Meetings Commission
- Awards Commission
- Business Opportunities:
- Finance Commission
- Records Commission
- Strategic Planning Commission
- Marketing and Public Relations Commission
- Business Affairs Commission
- International Business Council
- Chamber of Commerce Partnership Commission
BYLAW 12 4. TRAINING:
The National Organization shall appoint a director to promote, coordinate and monitor the activities related to membership training at National Organization and Chapter levels and to correspond with the appropriate officers at JCI level.
- COMMENTS ON BYLAWS 12-4, 12-5,12-6, and 12-7:
- In small National Organizations, the Vice Presidents or Executive Vice Presidents can be in charge of these tasks.
BYLAW 12 5. JCI MAJOR EMPHASIS THEME:
The National Organization shall appoint a Director to promote, coordinate and monitor the activities related to the JCI Major Emphasis Theme at the Chapter level and to correspond with the appropriate officers at JCI level.
BYLAW 12 6. JCI ENDORSED PROGRAMS:
Where possible, the National Organization shall also promote the adoption of JCI endorsed programs among the Chapters.
BYLAW 12 7. AWARDS:
The National Organization shall set an Awards Program to recognize and honor outstanding achievement in the fulfillment of the purposes of Junior Chambers by Chapters and Individual Members, and possibly appoint a Director to act as Awards Manager and correspond with the appropriate National Organization officer.
