NEW PROCEDURES FOR CONFERENCE AND CONGRESS TRAINING

JCI University reached another step in organizing the internal procedures by establishing basic rules for applications of training at Area Conferences and World Congress. Here are the new procedures:

Training at Area Conferences: Only ITFs and IGs are invited to submit proposals to conduct training at JCI Area Conferences. CNTs may receive a special invitation based on the importance of the course or topic. CNTs will be invited to chair the courses, assist trainers during sessions, and present a course evaluation to JCI at the end. Applications will be sent by the Training Administrator on November 30 and the deadline to receive applications is December 31.

Training at World Congress: Only ITFs are invited to submit proposals to conduct training at JCI World Congresses. IGs may receive a special invitation based on the importance of the course or topic. IGs will be invited to chair courses, assist trainers during sessions, and present a course evaluation to JCI at the end. Applications will be sent by the Training Administrator on April 30 and the deadline to receive applications is June 15. The JCI University Director will also consider for training at Congress the best courses conducted at the Area Conferences, based on Course Chairmen’s and participants' evaluation forms.

The Conference Chairman or the JCI University Director may also invite good trainers that are not IGs or ITFs. However, all trainers are encouraged to apply for those levels if they qualify.

JCI UNIVERSITY WANTS YOUR HELP IN DESIGNING NEW COURSES

After reviewing all current One-hour training courses, the JCI University decided that it is time to create new courses and is inviting all trainers to help update current courses and design new ones. The current available courses can be downloaded from the website www.jciuniversity.com. For new courses, the JCI University is seeking one-hour seminars (half-day courses are also accepted) under the four new segments: Leadership, Management, Entrepreneurship and Training. A template in Microsoft Word will be created and a standard Power Point slide will be available for the designers. If you are interested, please contact the JCI Training Administrator at gmeyer@jci.cc.

JCI ADMIN, JCI ADVENTURE and JCI ADVANCE COURSES ALREADY BEING DEVELOPED

Three teams of outstanding trainers are working hard developing the three courses that, together with JCI Achieve, will complete the Local Academy Courses aimed to train local officers.

JCI Achieve is a Chapter Development course that covers Our Business, Our Mission, Our Brand, Our Market and Our Membership.

JCI Admin will cover all aspects of Chapter Management, including officers' responsibilities, meetings, finances, communications, and programs.

JCI Adventure will be a course based on fun outdoor activities to promote team building and membership interaction.

JCI Advance, a course for Local Leaders, will be based on the principle that a person needs only basic qualities and skills that can be developed to become respected and followed by peers at the local level.

These four courses will be available at JCI University website free of charge, but local organizers need to print their own manuals.

For each course, JCI will train trainers, who will have the responsibility to transmit their knowledge to their local organizations.

In a few months, these courses will be tested in many places around the world. The JCI University is expecting to launch them officially in the second half of 2006. Depending on the advancement of the design, some courses may have Train-the-Trainers courses scheduled at Area Conferences.

JCI PRIME AND JCI EXCEL WILL HAVE A NEW DESIGN

There are three outstanding designing teams working hard to review and redesign JCI Prime and JCI Excel.

JCI Prime will be divided in two courses: JCI Presenter and JCI Trainer. JCI Excel will be revised and updated and will be called JCI Designer. Here is the tentative content of these three new courses:

JCI Presenter will be the basic speaking and presenting course. Participants will learn how to speak correctly, face and involve an audience, and have opportunities to practice as presenters in this two-day course.

JCI Trainer will be an advanced two-day course on delivering training. It will include knowledge of training methods, learning styles, and training resources.

JCI Designer is the current JCI Excel, totally revised and updated. It will cover all aspects of writing a training course. This will be a three-day course.

Currently JCI Designer is being tested and is scheduled to be ready, with Train-the-Trainer and participants courses, for the Area A and Area D Conferences.

JCI Presenter and JCI Trainer will be ready by the 2006 World Congress. The current JCI Prime is still in use and available to be conducted in 2006.
