2006 JCI President's Message
February 2006

Dear Trainers, Designers, Coaches and users of the JCI University,

When you read this first issue of JCI Campus News this year, I hope that you have already felt the upgrades on the administration and systems at the JCI University. We are working hard to improve our internal procedures and become even more professional in our approach. As you will see, we have already the programs for the conferences and we are now working on the training program for the World Congress to take place in November in Seoul.

When I began as a JCI trainer, it was difficult to get into the local organizations and provide training. We were a large group of new Prime graduates who wanted to train, but the approach at that time was just to sit back and wait until you were invited. Instead of waiting for someone to call me, I started to advertise. I sent mails to the local organizations in my region, placed ads in the national magazine, and suddenly I had more than enough to do.

Too many new trainers seem to just wait for the phone to ring. It will not. To become a successful trainer in JCI you have to be proactive. Start marketing yourself, ask to follow experienced trainers and promote yourself outside the organization. There are so many opportunities to develop as a trainer — you just have to look for them!

We have many designing teams working on our new programs. I encourage you to become part of one of the designer teams. We have many things we would like to do, but we can do them only if the entire training team is involved. We need to develop good training programs that our new trainers can deliver on a local, national and international level. So if you are interested in joining one of our teams or have developed a training that you would like to share with other trainers, please see the articles below for more inspiration.

Make it an outstanding month!
