Objectives
Written instructions are essential for successful training, but written materials alone are not sufficient. The instructions must be sufficiently detailed for trainers with various backgrounds to use them with the same results.
The materials should also be well written, should maximize communication between trainer and student, and should be interesting – even fun – to use.
Writing can be a trainer’s most important activity, both because the written word can reach a wider audience and because written materials last longer than presentations. The writing of training materials is the start of a chain that influences many people.
The process of writing can generate creative excitement, with new ideas growing as fast as the writer can set them down on paper. It can also seem like hard work, especially when no ideas come at all.
JCI Designer is aimed to prepare individuals who have already proven their talents in the training field for a new dimension of training development. At the end of this course, participants must be able to:
- Assess learning needs that describe the expected changes in participants and results in the organization.
- Create a training program outline that will give a clear picture of the entire program.
- Write clear, detailed trainers notes that will enable other trainers to conduct the course with similar results.
- Develop learning activities that will help participants to better understand the material.
- Develop handouts and manuals to support the learning process.
- Design evaluations that will show the extent of learning and the expected results.
As an overall objective, participants attending the JCI Designer course will be able to design new training courses that can be conducted efficiently by other trainers.
An objective can be complemented with the Course Outcome, which will state exactly what the participants will take away from the course.
